Hours before hitting the stage, CBS 17 talked to voters in line about issues that were important to them.
“Immigration is important to me,” said Austin Cain.
“I learned about his policies all for it, and he has come up with even more, like our taxes. I’m a server, and there is no tax on tips,” said Megan Tracy.
We also found an undecided voter who came to hear the former president’s agenda if elected.
“We wanted to come because my son has been a fan, and I feel like we need to get the whole picture before we decide what we want to do,” said Mandi Civils.
Women’s Reproductive Rights have been a big topic this campaign cycle and a big one this week since former First Lady Melania Trump revealed in a teaser to her memoir that her views on this issue differ from those of her husband.
“I feel like anybody should be able to do whatever they want with their body. I love Trump and everything else he does, but that’s the only thing I don’t like,” said Payton Barker.
“I am against abortion. I’m a Christian, and I’m Baptist. I might understand if it was an extreme,” said Frances Rose.

Junior Xaiveon Gear had a breakout game for Seventy-First (6-0, 3-0 United 8) with two interceptions and a huge sack against another one of the top 3A teams in the state in previously undefeated Cape Fear (5-1, 2-1).
The Falcons defense, led by linebacker Donavan Frederick — also the team's leading rusher — hasn't given up a touchdown in 10 quarters.
Shon Pone was on the receiving end of Nance's TD passes, scoring on two of his three catches in the game. The sophomore had 130 yards from scrimmage with 79 receiving yards and 51 rushing yards.
Jayson Franklin ran for 105 yards on 17 carries for the Falcons, and he forced a fumble that John Archer recovered.
Nance's eye-popping numbers started accumulating early on as he posted five TDs in the first half, starting with a 32-yard scoring run. After a 52-yard touchdown pass to Pone, Nance got loose for an 82-yard TD run and he added another score on a 12-yard run in the second quarter. Just before the half, Nance hit Pone again for a 22-yard TD reception. The QB's last score came on a 1-yard plunge to break the goal-line plane.
Nance completed 6 of 9 passes for 109 yards and he ran for 163 on 11 carries.
Geronimo Sanchez completed 11 of 23 passes for 153 yards as the Colts struggled in the trenches against a stalwart Falcons squad.

Already among the top 25 scorers in the state across all classifications with 68 points, the junior running back posted his fifth multiple-TD and 100-plus-yard rushing game with 154 yards on 13 carries, averaging 11.8 yards per carry — his third time averaging double-figures per carry this season.
Fellow junior backs Dequan Anthony and David Bostic rounded out the rushing attack with 97 and 58 yards, respectively, and Bostic added two touchdowns.

Jayden Jenkins scored on a 72-yard blocked field goal return in the first and Cristian Simmons added another TD on a 1-yard run in the third as South View posted 421 total yards, 304 of those on the ground.

Last Outing Between the Bulldogs and Broncos In the last matchup between Fayetteville State and Bowie State, BSU won its third straight CIAA Championship, 17-7 on Nov. 13, 2021. BSU led the game from start to finish, jumping out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter. FSU struck back in the third quarter with a touchdown of their own with 35 seconds left in the quarter. The Bulldogs managed to kick a field goal with five minutes left in the fourth quarter becoming the fifth team in Division II history to win three straight championships winning 17-7.
Scouting Bowie State Throughout the program's history, Bowie State has proudly been a top defense in the CIAA. In 2024, the Bulldogs are the sixth-best defense in the conference, only allowing 1317 total yards for 329.3 yards per game.
Senior Sadiq Salawu is tied for the second most solo tackles in the conference with 22, while senior Mekhi Williams has two interceptions on the season, which is tied for the second most in the conference.
Last Time Out for Bowie State Bowie State dropped their last matchup against Winston-Salem State 28-14 on Saturday, Sept. 28th. BSU started off strong, leading 7-0 after the first quarter. The Rams took advantage of costly turnovers by the Bulldogs and scored three touchdowns, taking a 21-7 lead going into halftime. After a stalemate in the third quarter, WSSU opened up the fourth quarter with a touchdown. BSU responded with their own to close out the game 28-14.
The Bulldogs were led by freshman Kevin Taylor, who threw for 71 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception with eight completions. Senior Curtis Murray led the rushing attack with 41 yards on eight attempts. Junior Joshua Thurston was the leading receiver for BSU, with six receptions for 53 yards. Junior Jordan Williams continues to lead Bowie State's defense, coming up with eight total tackles (five solo) and one pass breakup. Salawu also walked away with seven tackles (five solo).
Scouting Fayetteville State Throughout the 2024 season, Fayetteville State is the fifth-best defense in the conference, only allowing 1328 total yards for 332 yards per game. Offensively, the Broncos' number one receiver, senior David Baros, is ranked fourth in the CIAA for receiving yards with 299 yards on the season. Senior Shi Gaskins anchors the defensive line for the Broncos with 10 tackles for loss and three sacks, which has him tied for the second most sacks within the conference.
Last Timeout for Fayetteville State The Broncos fell in their last matchup against Virginia State, 35-18, on Saturday, Sept. 28, in Petersburg, Va. FSU found the endzone first in the first quarter, but VSU quickly responded with a touchdown of their own, making it 7-7 after one. The Trojans scored two touchdowns in the second quarter, while the Broncos scored on a field goal, making the score 21-10. VSU stayed in the driver's seat, adding another touchdown in the third quarter, extending the lead to 28-10. Virginia State scored one last time, and the Broncos converted a two-point conversion after scoring to end the game, 35-18. Junior Demari Daniels led the FSU offense with 107 passing yards and one touchdown. Graduate Malik Head led the team with seven tackles and two tackles for loss.
Up Next Bowie State will continue its road skid with a trip to Petersburg, Va., for a CIAA matchup against the Virginia State Trojans on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. from Rogers Stadium.

Entering week 7 of NCHSAA football, two games have been rescheduled in Cumberland County.
Originally set for Friday, Oct. 4, Terry Sanford and Westover football games have both been rescheduled due to a larger event that will take place on Friday evening in the area that will require a significant amount of law enforcement resources, according to the district.
Terry Sanford will host Pine Forest High School on Thursday, Oct. 3, for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
Westover will host Triton on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m.
